Quarterly Coalition Meeting
Held at the Center for Alexandria’s Children, the December meeting was well-attended and productive. Members in attendance enjoyed lunch catered by Panera on Duke Street and spent some quality time reflecting on the achievements of the past year while looking ahead to plan for another successful year of public education and outreach in 2010. A new fact sheet on “Unplugging with Your Child” was also distributed.

Quarterly Coalition Meeting
Twenty-three Coalition members met on Thursday, September 17th 2009 at the Mason District Government Center in Annandale. The quarterly topic was "Supporting Positive Social Development in Children." Many thanks to our very knowledgeable and engaging panel presenters: Tricia Bassing - Prevention Team Leader, Child, Family & Prevention Division, Alexandria Community Services Board; Robin Crawley - Alexandria Systems Manager, Parent Infant Education Program Coordinator, Alexandria Community Services Board; Judy Martens - Director of Training and Professional Development, Office for Early Childhood Development, Alexandria Department of Human Services; and Arika Van Brunt - Preschool Prevention Team, Alexandria Community Services Board. Members were encouraged to share the updated fact sheet Supporting Your Child's Social Development.

Quarterly Coalition Meeting
Coalition members met at Arlington DHS where members Cheryl Fuentes and Mary Ann Moran offered a special presentation on Working with Immigrant Families. Coalition members also screened the Arlington County-produced video, “Reunified Families”. Special Guests also included Silvia Burwell and Hildi Pardo from Arlington Public Schools. Members also received updated fact sheets in Supervision Guidelines to be distributed in their communities this summer.

Quarterly Coalition Meeting
Members met at the Center for Alexandria’s Children to discuss regional CPS guidelines and reporting child abuse, as well as supporting parents in times of economic stress.

Thirty Coalition members met at Outback Steakhouse in Arlington to begin planning public education messages for 2009 and the upcoming Blue Ribbon Campaign.

Greater Prince William Area Allies in Prevention Breakfast Summit
Forty child advocates and community leaders came together to discuss public education efforts in the greater Prince William area, as well as how coordination between individuals and agencies can impact the prevention of child abuse.
