On April 2, 2008, SCAN and the Allies in Prevention Coalition hosted the 6th Annual Allies in Prevention Awards Luncheon at Maggiano’s at Tyson’s Galleria. With more than 200 in attendance, the event was an excellent opportunity to kick off the Northern Virginia Blue Ribbon Campaign and honor five Northern Virginians who go above and beyond in their efforts to protect children and end abuse and neglect. Attendees enjoyed keynote speaker Ralph Smith of the Annie E. Casey Foundation and special guest ABC7 News Anchor Alison Starling. Guests also received thousands of new public education materials for distribution in their own communities during April, which is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
