ABOUT THE ARTIST
Each resin sculpture stands 6” tall and is a full-size replica of the original piece created especially for SCAN by local artist Joe Mullins. Joe has spent his career supporting children and families. He is a forensic artist for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, headquartered in Alexandria, VA. His age progressions and skull reconstructions have led to missing children becoming identified and families finding answers. His age regressions support law enforcement’s fight against child exploitation on-line. Joe also teaches a class on skeletal reconstruction at the New York Academy of Art. He hopes that by teaching fellow artists how to sculpt a face on an unidentified skull that they, too, will lend a hand in solving missing person cases. His quest has become more meaningful now that he is the father of two small children.
