What a great (and
delicious!) way to show your support for SCAN
and the Blue Ribbon Campaign:
Join us this Sunday,
April 13th, from 4:30-9:00PM
at Stardust Restaurant in Old Town
Alexandria.
Come enjoy Executive Chef Pat
Phatiphong's Thai dishes with a French flair, in
the eclectic atmosphere of Stardust while enjoying
the acoustic sounds of Laissez Foure,
DC's premiere New Orleans jazz quartet (playing
from 6:00-9:00 PM)!
25% of the evening's
proceeds will go directly to support SCAN's
valuable programs.

CALLING
ALL VOLUNTEERS: SCAN'S PARENT EDUCATION PROGRAM
NEEDS YOU!
SCAN's Parent Education Program
is experiencing more growth than ever
before! That means we need more wonderful
volunteers to be a part of these
special programs that are
changing families' lives:
Our ABCs of Parenting
Class in Spanish kicks off on Wednesday,
April 16th. We continue to register
parents but we need volunteers to help with
logistics (feeding the masses!) as well as
childcare. The program meets every Wednesday from
6:00 - 8:30 PM and you get FREE DINNER!!!
>
View the ABCs of Parenting
flyer Our Spanish-speaking parent
support group, Juntos Por El
Cambio, that meets on Tuesday
evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 PM at Cora Kelly
Elementary school, is quickly growing and we need
a volunteer to help the children's program
director. Speaking Spanish is a PLUS but not
necessary! Even if you can commit to 2-3 Tuesdays
a month that would be GREAT!

SNAPSHOT OF HOPE
Judy Beavers,
SCAN Volunteer
Learn more about SCAN through
the people from our past, present and
future.
Judy Beavers wanted to make a
difference as a volunteer. She and her
husband, Bill, had raised two daughters in the
City of Alexandria. In 2002, with a personal
commitment to children, a desire to make a
difference, and a willingness to help with
any task, Judy found SCAN. We're forever
thankful! Today, she is one of the organization's
most reliable volunteers and a cherished member of
the SCAN
family.
