WHO IS SCAN?
MEET MARIA, A CASA
VOLUNTEER
Maria* is a volunteer with SCAN's CASA Program. She is
currently advocating for two siblings, ages 9
months and 8 years old. Although their mother
loves them, she is unable to care for them
due to chronic mental illness.
Maria visits the children often and has
built a strong rapport with the entire
family. Her ability to speak the
family's primary language was key in gaining trust
and cooperation. Today, both
children are thriving in pre-adoptive homes and
Maria played a large role in their success.
Do you know someone like
Maria? The CASA Program is seeking
bilingual Latino volunteers who want to speak
up for children in our community. (* All
details changed to protect privacy.)
