CASA STAFF AT ADVOCACY DAY IN
RICHMOND
Last
month a number of SCAN staff members were in
Richmond for Advocacy Day at the
State Capitol. For those of us who work with
SCAN's Alexandria/Arlington CASA Program,
it was a special opportunity to meet with leaders
and discuss the needs of abused and neglected
children in the court system. Special thanks to
Del. Patrick A. Hope (above) with SCAN's Sonia
Quiñónez, Dana Taylor and Carrie
Cannon.

NEW
INFO ON OUR ONLINE RESOURCE CENTER
Our online Parent
Resource Center continues to serve
hundreds of visitors every month. We're currently
highlighting our new materials (fact sheets,
radio shows and more!) on how parents and
other adults can prevent child sexual abuse, in
conjunction with our new community education
work through the Darkness to Light
program.

MEET
SCAN: DELMIRA MORALES
Delmira Morales is the newest
Case Supervisor with our Alexandria/Arlington CASA
Program, and brings her experience working at the
National Counseling Group as well as more
than 10 years as a substance abuse counselor
in Fairfax County.
"Working
with CASA has been educational and rewarding so
far," says Delmira, a bilingual mother of two and
self-described lover of music, working with people
and laughter.
"SCAN's
CASA Program really highlights not just those in
need," says Delmira, "but the power of
volunteering and the positive impact this
has in our community. I look forward to
growing up in such good company!"
And
we look forward to having Delmira on
board!
