MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR CHILDREN
& PARENTS!
SCAN needs children's
program coordinators and volunteers for
English and Spanish speaking Parent Support
Groups
Volunteers are needed to implement
developmentally appropriate activities with
children while their parents participate in SCAN's
ongoing, weekly support groups.
Coordinators are
provided a modest stipend and are in charge of
planning and organizing materials necessary for
the children's program.
Volunteers are
expected to be available on a weekly basis to
support the coordinator and interact with the
children.

SCAN'S ALLIES IN PREVENTION
COALITION STAYS BUSY THIS SUMMER Last month, SCAN hosted
the quarterly Allies in Prevention Coalition
meeting at the Cascades Library in Loudoun.
Donna Vanik, from Loudoun County Public Schools -
Head Start, gave a fantastic presentation
on The Power of Play. SCAN also provided fact sheets
on the subject in English and
Spanish.
In addition to professional
development, Coalition members had an opportunity
to reflect on public education efforts made in
April for National Child Abuse Prevention Month,
as well as network with other members.
SCAN and the Coalition are also in the
beginning phases of planning a special Allies in
Prevention outreach event to take place in Prince
William County this fall. Stay tuned for
more information!
