WHO IS SCAN?
MEET MEAGHAN, A NEW PARENT ED VOLUNTEER
PARENT ED VOLUNTEERMeaghan Morris joined the SCAN team just a few months ago, in March 2010, but with the experience and commitment that she brings to SCAN, we hope she will continue to volunteer for years to come. Meaghan's initial interest was with SCAN's Alexandria/Arlington CASA program but with a demanding job she found a better fit as the Children's Program Leader for the ABCs of Parenting program this spring. Meaghan comes to SCAN with experience living abroad and speaking Spanish, teaching preschool children and working with art programs for young girls.

During this spring's session of ABCs, Meaghan quickly took the initiative to carry out the lesson plans and manage a classroom of entertaining, yet sometimes challenging 4 to 6 year olds. One week when a touchy subject was brought up by one child, Meaghan expertly facilitated discussion with the children and took responsibility to address the issue with several parents before the night was over.

Meaghan's consistency and leadership within the SCAN team has been so crucial during this most recent session of ABCs and we look forward to working with her in the future!

Thank you for your continued interest in and support of SCAN.  You are helping us build hope for children and families across Northern Virginia!
