In conjunction with its Kids Need Connections campaign during National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) of Northern Virginia has launched a new app designed to make it easy for parents to connect with information on dozens of parenting topics. Thanks to a contribution from AT&T and other Public Education Program funders, the app takes content from SCAN’s well-established online Parent Resource Center and makes it available as an app for iPhone and Android users.
“SCAN does so many great things to keep Virginia’s children safe. The new app is a tool to help give parents and caregivers more access to information they need anytime, anywhere. It’s another great resource offered by the organization,” said Vince Apruzzese, regional vice president for AT&T External Affairs in Virginia.
Apruzzese added AT&T’s Digital You initiative offers additional resources to help Virginians of all ages use mobile technology safely and responsibly. Learn more at http://digitalyou.att.com/.
The app officially launches April 5th, and will first be introduced to guests at SCAN’s 14th annual Allies in Prevention Awards luncheon. Popular topics that parents can access on the app include Positive Discipline, Anger Management, Co-Parenting and Family Stress and Resiliency. The app can be downloaded now on iTunes and Google Play, and will provide access to content, fact sheets and even MP3 audio files on some topics.
“Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for parents to access supportive information and real-life tips for the challenges they face,” said Sonia Quiñónez, SCAN’s Executive Director. “Our Kids Need Connections campaign is also about parents feeling connected. We’re excited about the possibility of reaching parents on-the-go, when they need information and support in their daily lives.”
