50 very different heroes. Who will be next?

January 18, 2013

What do a local judge, a foster parent and an emergency room doctor have in common? How about a social worker and a Parks & Recreation employee? Or an attorney and a probation officer?

Nominations_emailgraphicEvery one of these individuals has received an Allies in Prevention Award from SCAN and its Allies in Prevention Coalition.

Over the past decade, SCAN has honored more than fifty heroes for their commitment to protecting children and strengthening families across Northern Virginia. If this list of 50+ honorees teaches us anything, it’s that there are COUNTLESS ways to make an impact and no excuse NOT to be working to prevent child abuse in our own ways.

Today we’re opening the call for nominations. Who do you know who goes above and beyond in their work with children and families? Maybe it’s a teacher or a coach, an elected official or a family therapist, perhaps even a parent leader! We believe it’s critical to celebrate the often exhausting and unsung work of changing our community’s future, one child and one parent at a time.

SCAN invites you to help us learn more about the heroes in our community by submitting a nomination no later than February 8th.

You can help us decide who we’ll add to this esteemed list in 2013. We can only imagine!
