A sneak peak for a special night: Toast to Hope!

This week’s post comes straight from SCAN’s Director of Development, Karen Price, as she takes care of the countless tasks (and fun details) that make Toast to Hope such a great event:

Toast to Hope fever has hit the SCAN office!  Signs of Toast are everywhere!  In just over a week–November 17th to be exact–SCAN will be hosting its 10th Annual Toast to Hope, a garden party in the chill of November,  at the Patent and Trademark Office’s Atrium in Alexandria, VA.  How can you tell it’s time for Toast around here?

Well, it could be from all the decorations we’ve got around – like the very serious crop of cat-grass in my office or the tissue paper flowers or the beginnings of giant flowers and favor box stuffing and…well, you get the idea.

Or it could be from the really great Silent Auction prizes we have all over the office – we’ve got signed memorabilia from everyone, from the London 2012 Swim Team to the Washington Nationals.  We also have some great dining options and pamper-yourself items.  We’ve got great vacation deals and local outings that will have you saying, “let’s book a get-away!”  We also have some really cute stuff for the kids – like the mini piano from Why Knot? in Old Town.  You can check out everything yourself in our online Silent Auction catalog – and even make a pre-bid. (Just be sure to get it in before November 15th!)

The way you can REALLY tell it’s time for Toast, though, is the all of the fun staff and volunteers are having as they get everything ready.  We’re packaging prizes, putting together party favors, making decorations and signs and making indoor versions of lawn games.  Of course, we also have to try out the games – it’s just good policy.

If you want to get in on all this fun, there are 2 ways to do so: BUY A TICKET or VOLUNTEER.  You may purchase a ticket online and come enjoy food from 10 local restaurants and beer and wine tastings from multiple brewmasters and vintners. We are also still looking for volunteers, especially for the day of the event!  Send me an email at kprice@scanva.org and let us know you want to help out!

See you on the 17th!
