We are all responsible for protecting children from abuse.

Pinwheels for Prevention

The pinwheel is the national symbol for child abuse prevention.

During National Child Abuse Prevention Month and all year long, we are proud to share this symbol of hope and commitment to the children of Northern Virginia.

Ready to show your support outdoors? You can purchase pinwheels or lawn signs from our friends at positivepromotions.com, or contact us to learn more.

Faith and community groups: Ways to get involved

Child sexual abuse prevention training

We are proud to be an official partner with Darkness to Light, a nationally-recognized organization focused on preventing child sexual abuse. Our staff is certified to provide training to a variety of organizations where staff, volunteers and other members have close contact with children and could be a critical piece in protecting a child, discovering abuse and/or establishing a safe community for children.

Host a SCAN workshop for your community

We encourage nonprofits, schools, government agencies, and other community groups to host our workshops, which are based on SCAN’s existing programs as well as the expertise of our staff. Workshops can be tailored to the needs of your audience and are often available in English and Spanish.

Our Pinwheel Partners are powerful voices during Child Abuse Prevention Month.

By planting pinwheel gardens on their properties in April, partners help raise awareness and share powerful prevention messages with the community.

Become a partner today to get connected with our vendors for special rates, so that you can access materials, pay less, and have items shipped or delivered directly to your garden locations.

From CASA volunteers to board members to parenting program participants, SCAN speakers have a variety of backgrounds and would love to share their stories with you.
