Share the Kids Need Connections campaign with your Faith Community
When children have strong, healthy relationships with nurturing adults, they are more likely to be safer, stronger and happier children. Faith groups can be incredibly powerful, supportive forces in the life of its community’s children. Help your members understand this responsibility, give them simple steps for connecting with children in safe ways, and provide opportunities for both parents and other adults to build connections with kids.

Explore (and SHARE!) SCAN’s Parent Resource Center
We are proud to have a robust online resource center filled with information, fact sheets and tips for parents and other caregivers. Feel free to download, copy and share these resources on everything from Anger Management and Positive Discipline to Cyber Bullying and When Your Child is Ready to be Home Alone. Does your faith group have a parenting support group or mom’s club? These are great topics and resources for discussion!

Invite a SCAN Spokesperson to your Faith Community
Our volunteers, staff and board members each have a compelling story to tell about what SCAN has done for their community and why they continue to support its child abuse prevention, parent education and advocacy programs. Would your church council, women’s group, adult education group or other gathering like to learn more about SCAN’s impact? Please contact us to request a guest from SCAN’s Speakers Bureau.

Become a ‘Pinwheel Partner’ for Child Abuse Prevention Month in April
Faith communities can offer powerful voices in April by planting pinwheel gardens on their properties to raise awareness, organizing special services focused on vulnerable children, and putting campaign messages into the hands of members.

Schedule a Training to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse
SCAN is an official partner with Darkness to Light, a nationally-recognized organization focused on preventing child sexual abuse by training adults to recognize, respond and react to signs of abuse. We often provide trainings at faith-based organizations, where staff, volunteers and other members have close contact with children and could be a critical piece in protecting a child, discovering abuse and/or establishing a safe community for children.

Host a SCAN Workshop for your Community
SCAN is excited to offer a new series of fee-for-service workshops targeted at parents, volunteers and service providers. We encourage faith groups to consider hosting one of our workshops, which are based on our own existing programs and the expertise of SCAN staff. Workshops can be tailored to the needs of your audience and are often available in English and Spanish.

Support SCAN by Donating Volunteer Hours or Funds
SCAN offers a wide variety of important volunteer opportunities. We also welcome faith groups to organize benefits to raise funds for our prevention programs, or sponsor teams in our annual Croquet Day.
