Family Programs

All in-person SCAN Family Programs have been transitioned to virtual events until further notice. Thank you for your patience as we adjust our programming and focus on keeping our staff and community safe.

SCAN’s Family Programs offer parents, caregivers, and families the opportunity to connect with others and know they are not alone on the journey of raising children. Through programs, workshops, and other events, they can come together to celebrate their joys and address challenges – in a safe, supportive environment where they share the experiences, resources, and encouragement that can impact families forever.

All upcoming programming is virtual and open to parents all over the Northern Virginia region.

Community Workshops

SCAN is able to develop workshops on one or more topics of interest for partner organizations. SCAN  can provide a one-time workshop from our menu of topics for your parent group. Or SCAN can work with you to tailor a Parent Café series, unique to the needs of our partner. A series is usually composed of 4 to 6 workshop sessions but can be adjusted to meet our partner’s needs. Topics for each session are selected by SCAN and the partnering organization. The partner can opt to include child care or a concurrent children’s program with lesson plans.  Reunification, positive discipline, communication, family rules are a few topics available.

If you are a community member interested in hosting a workshop or  a series [click here].

All of SCANs programs are free of charge and held at easily accessible community locations. Some programs require both parent and child to attend. Please click on the links to each program to learn more.
